    4 days biking in Morocco

    Tour Details

During this 4-day adventure we travel through the pastoral mountains and valleys inhabited by Berbers for generations. This region of the High Atlas is known for its steppe farming, where the locals transform poor, arid soil into fertile, productive fields which provide them with the crops necessary to sustain themselves. Our 4-day adventure takes us through a region where these practices are highlighted. We will also pass through serene cedar and juniper forests, cross crystal mountain streams and ascend to plateaus that reveal the stunning scenery of the Atlas Massif.

    Tour Itinerary

    DAY1,IMLIL-TACHEDDIRT

We will rise early to enjoy our breakfast in the tranquil atmosphere of Imlil village, gateway to the Atlas. We get underway and head east up the valley through Tamatert, toward Tacheddirt, the highest village in the Rihrhaia valley, at 2314 m. The day's ride is 18 km. Arriving at Tacheddirt, we will be welcomed by our Berber hosts and spend the night at a local gite, or guesthouse.

    DAY2,TACHEDDIRT-OUKAIMDEN-OUSTERK-IMSKER

From our departure point in Tacheddirt, we'll cycle for 2 hours to arrive at Tizi n'Addi pass. Then continue down to the alpine-like ski resort of Oukaimden, at 2630 m., where we will take a tour through the fascinating park of engraved rocks. Here you will find a truly impressive collection of rock art sites (250 rock art sites and 1000 depictions throughout the valley). Our journey continues down through Ousterk and finally to Imsker, where we will spend the night at a cosy gite. The day's ride is 25 km.

    DAY3,IMSKER-TANSGHARTE-MOULAY BRAHIM-KIK

Heading out in a different route, we'll continue toward the Kik plateau via Tansgharte and Asni, a small market town. The plateau is a beautiful region which is marked by a lake-like center, which is actually a bed of water created by the dam at Takerkoust. Here we'll stop for a rest and lunch before setting out for Moulay Brahim, a holy village frequented by pilgrims. Here we spend the night after a 22km ride.

    DAY 4,KIK-AMIZMIZ-MARRAKECH

Our final ride will take us through the village of Amizmiz, a juncture point between the many small villages of the area with a bustling weekly souk, or market, where locals sell their produce and livestock. After four days covering the region and absorbing the culture and scenery, we'll put our feet up and enjoy a cup of mint tea, the refreshing local drink that welcomes every visitor. From here you will be transported back to Marrakech, approximately 30-45 minutes' drive.
