One of the best ways to experience a culture is to enjoy its cuisine. The colors, smells and tastes of any region will give a lot of information about people, the landscape (what grows here?) and the history. But most of all it gives us a lot of pleasure and enjoyment. Learning the secrets of preparing those dishes is a lot of fun…and then you get to enjoy the fruits of your labours. With this in mind let us invite you to join us for an amazing day of cooking in the High Atlas.
Cooking with the Berber locals in the scenic environment of the Atlas Mountains will give you a first-hand chance to experience the warmth and hospitality of the region. At the same time you will learn the secrets that go into some of Morocco’s most famous dishes, including Tagines and Couscous. We’ll also show you what goes into making homemade breads and Moroccan salads, as well as baghrir, kebabs and of course, the ever-present tea that always graces the table and welcomes the visitor.
Our day of culinary adventure and discovery will begin with a stroll through local Berber village(s) and, depending on the day, the vibrant souk. Here, we will sample a few local delicacies and take a look at what the vendors are offering. We’ll do our shopping for the class and take in the sights and sounds of the bustling marketplace.
