Take a break from the hectic city scene and restore yourself with a brief walking tour through “four valleys” of the Atlas range. A refreshing timeout from the crazy pace of travel, this three day journey takes you through the lush landscape of the Imlil, Imnane, Imsker and Azzden valleys. It is a great opportunity to experience Berber culture and interact with the native population as we travel through local villages. This tour showcases the wide variety of scenery to be appreciated throughout the Atlas region.
Tour Itinerary
DAY1,MARRAKECH—IMLIL—TACHEDDIRT
Departing Marrakech after breakfast, we will drive to Imlil where you will meet your guide and mule team. Gear loaded, we will proceed walking toward Tacheddirt Valley. The trail ascends up to Tizi N’Tamatert (2279m), which provides some really remarkable views of the High Atlas, Imlil Valley, and Imnane Valley. We then descend to the village of Ouanesekra (2200m) in Imnane Valley, and another thirty minutes walking brings us to Tacheddirt village, where you can either camp by the river or spend the evening in a traditional Berber gite, or guesthouse. The day’s journey is 4 or 5 hours walking at an even pace.
DAY2,TACHEDDIRT—IMSKER
After breakfast we will depart Tacheddirt in the direction of Imsker (1300m). Moving down through the Imnane Valley through the villages of Ounskra, Tamguiste, Ikkis, Ammssakrou, and Arg. This will give you the chance to witness the native communities in their various daily activities. Arriving to Imsker, you may choose between a night spent camping or accommodation in a local gite. The day’s trek is approx. 6 hours.
DAY3,IMSKER—TIZI OUSSEM
This trek will take us from Imsker to Tizi Oussem (1900m.), passing through Tizi N’Lbour Pass (1500m), Imlil Valley, Tizi N’Tacht Pass (2000m), and Ait Aissa Village in the Azzaden Valley. Today’s journey affords you a great variety of incredible photo ops of the surrounding valleys and summits of the Atlas Range and local life. Today’s trek is 6 hours.
DAY 4,TIZI OUSSEM—IMLIL—MARRAKECH
Departing Tizi Oussem and trekking to Imlil (1740m) we will trek through Ighouliden waterfalls (2400m) and Tizi Mzik Pass (2450m.). From Imlil, we travel back to Marrakech. This is a 4 hour trek.
